Google Apps目前共有三種版本，Standard Edition、Premier Edition、Education Edition，各版本的差異性可以看看這裡。

華龍的Google Apps從一開始申請下來，就是Standard Edition，雖然我們學校單位適用Education Edition，不過也沒仔細想過要將它變更為Education Edition。

日前有位網友 iGoogle 沙提到Google Apps上有個新功能「Choose from contacts」（詳見Google Apps增加郵件遷移工具），不過這功能只有在Premier Edition及Education Edition才有，所以啦！就讓我興起想升級為Education Edition的念頭。

所以這邊記錄一下我申請的過程，有想要申請的，參考看看。

1.先到 Google Apps for Administrators的Contact us這網頁去填入相關資料

依照頁面上的說明，依序填入資料，填好送出後，The Google Apps Team會自動回一封信給你，內容大概就是說一些簡單問題的解決方式。

信件最後的意思有說到，假如還有疑問，請回信，Google Team將會有人跟你聯絡。

2.我回信：

我回信告知我的網域（hlps.tcc.edu.tw）， 希望能升級到Education edition...。

3.Google回信：

Google回信，又說到要使用Education edition，必須符合底下三點

  • - K-12 or higher educational institution
  • - Accredited by a generally accepted accreditation body
  • - Not-for-profit

信件最後又說，「If you feel that you have been classified incorrectly, please let us know.」

4.我回信：

好吧！可能是我上面的回信內容寫的不清楚，所以只好繼續用我那非常破的英文再次回信。

5.Google回信：

You've been approved for Google Apps Education Edition!....

Ya!終於變成Education edition了，有圖有真相

那麼之前所說的「Choose from contacts」究竟是什麼樣的功能呢？

要使用這功能，管理者必須先到管理後台（必須切換到英文的管理介面），「User accounts」/「 Settings」，去設定

Contact Sharing

Automatically share contacts within the domain. Contact information will not be shared outside your domain.  Learn more

 


使用者也必須先將mail的語系切換到「English」 才可以。

使用者在寄信時，會多出個「Choose from contacts」（從通訊錄選取）的選項



按下這選項，會跳出個視窗，除了可以看到自己的通訊錄之外，輸入關鍵字，還可以搜尋到整個Google Apps內所有使用者所建立的通訊錄。夠強了吧！所以管理者得自己考慮看看要不要啟用這功能了。

當然，點選好多個收件者之後，按下視窗右下角的「Done」就可以了。

其實這樣的功能在Google 文件上已經是可以使用了，也支援繁體中文。
